About Us
Why We Started a Community Newsletter

We have been sending out a personal newsletter to our friends and family for years. We wanted to share some of our experience and market knowledge with the entire Victoria MN community as well since this is where were we live and work. Printing and postage can be very expensive. We knew if we wanted to help educate Victoria Residents and Business Owners about what's going on in today's real estate market, we should consider making this a joint venture. And so we did just that.

We asked several business owners we knew if they wanted to be a part of a new publication for Victoria. One that will be exclusive to one advertiser per industry. The response was overwhelmingly positive. That was 2004. Since then, we've consistently produced a high quality, informative, entertaining and educational newsletter for Victoria. One we are very proud to offer to the community.

"I have been advertising with AHIV since its beginning and have found it very effective in targeting Victoria.  The newsletter format where I can write articles in place of traditional advertising has been very effective in letting my potential customer, not only become educated, but it also allows them to get to know me and my business.  I also appreciate that this newsletter is exclusive, so there won't be five other businesses offering the same service advertising right next to me."

~Dr. Becky Pauly, ABC Family Chiropractic

“The day after the newsletter was published, Children of Tomorrow received 3 phone calls from new families in the area inquiring about childcare. The families said that since they were new to the area, they have not heard of us! Michelle, I’m so excited you are running the newsletter, I enjoy reading it!”

~Aleta Mechtel from Children of Tomorrow

Targeted only to Victoria residents, I find that this brief newsletter is read regularly by my potential customers, and they often mention that they have seen ads for Budget Blinds. Michelle is always organized and very helpful when I'm pulling my ads together. By creating "At Home in Victoria," she's created a valuable resource -- for both Victoria residents and businesses.”

What the Community Is Saying...

District 112 School Board recognized Michelle Aspelin with the "You Make a Difference" Award for the At Home in Victoria Newsletter. We dedicate a small portion of the newsletter for "Community News" and the School District along with the SWMetro Chamber and the City of Victoria post community news and events. Michelle was also honored for most recently added a free column called "Dedicated to the Arts". This column was added as the result of a focus group for the ARTS where discussions lead to a consensus that there isn't enough publicity for the ARTS. Michelle decided to include a quarter page each month to promote plays, musicals, concerts, art events, recognition, etc. ~Thank you District 112 School Board for your Gratitude.

"At Home in Victoria is a unique newsletter; it's consistently well-designed and well-written, and has an enthusiastic following. In a recently comprised survey, it was report that AHIV is one of the most recognized publications as a source of information and advertising in the Victoria area."

Mary Erickson of District 112 Community Education

"Michelle's work as Editor and Publisher for At Home in Victoria has been exemplary. The newsletter has become a key source of information for Victoria residents and businesses. It includes helpful information from area businesses and community groups and also lets people know about trends in real estate, buying opportunities, tax credits and many other pieces of helpful information. It is quick and easy to read and is a good source for people ready to make a buying decision. Michelle is also generous with her publication and allows the local school district, Chamber of Commerce and City include news items. It comes every first of the month by mail and is a good blend of fun, news and helpful information. The ad rates are also very competitive for businesses wishing to reach all homes. You are not really 'at home in Victoria' until you have read her newsletter for the month. Great job, Michelle!"
